Agreed on all counts. Don’t let kids keep making the same mistakes over and over just to get through a drill. Stop, slow it down and have them get it right before adding speed or additional difficulty.

Wouldn’t we all like to see this change, but don’t suspect it will anytime soon because someone will always be willing to pay. And hockey is not the only sport/activity. Try putting your kid in dance or rep soccer. For us the tradeoff has been well adjusted young adults, we think it’s been worth it and we’d do it all over again. I suspect Mr. Subban would as well.

They may not yet be in the big leagues, but hockey-playing youngsters, their parents and coaches need to be mindful of concussion safety and the warning signs of brain injuries that have sidelined some of the game’s biggest stars, experts say.

Ok, I am no expert and this may be overstating the obvious, but with pun fully intended, is this not a no-brainer? If your kid is struck in the head or falls on the ice and hits his or her head, should a parent not be naturally mindful of what effect it’s had on the child?

But from my experience the expense is worth it. Lots of sports and kids activities (dance, music lessons, etc.) And now bravo to @ClubHC_EN for a couple of programs designed to make life easier for us dads and moms.

Funny piece, but Scott’s obviously never watched Toddlers and Tiaras or Dance Moms cuz those parents are as messed up as any hockey parents I’ve encountered. Or check out a competitive soccer game or gymnastics event sometime – those moms and dads would fit in nicely up in the stands at your friendly neighborhood rink.
